HISTORY

From the moment Eden was born, it was clear that she was talented. A natural reader and curious little scholar, she learned everything that she could put her hands on. Others in their small Kilian community, including her well-meaning parents, delighted in her skills and both praised and encouraged her. The young Eden lapped it all up, and the more she learned, the more they praised, and the more her ego swelled.

Though perhaps not all that impressive in the grand scheme of things, Eden was most assuredly the most talented mage their town had seen in ages, a fact which was drilled into her early on. The birth of her two sisters, one whose skill in magic was lacking, the other without any skill in elemental magic at all simply cemented this. She became arrogant in her perceived superiourity. The brunt of this was felt by Tallys, her less-than-brilliant sister.

But despite this arrogance and frequent entanglements with Tallys, Eden was far from a shallow or discontent person. She took a great deal of time to assist Raisie, the youngest sister, with her reading skills, and began a relationship with the completely magicless Noel, much to the horror and shock of her parents and much of the town. She was happy with her simple existance, and intended for it to stay much the same for the rest of her life.

It was then she discovered Raisie was a Pillar.

Those around her began to notice the change, then. Eden became harsher and more difficult to spend time with, and shut everyone but Noel out of her life. She buried herself in her studies and avoided human contact as much as possible, and her critcisms of Tallys changed from understandable to malicious. She became harsh with her family, snappish with friends, and completely distant to strangers. And nothing helped quell the desperate urge to slit her sister's throat that haunted her every second of every day. When she thought Noel had been unfaithful to her with Tallys, it gave her the excuse she had needed to flee, and flee she did.

Since then, Eden was a traveller, moving from one library to the next, soaking up knowledge, surviving by the money impressing others with her skills brought her. She forced her home to be the last thing from her mind, and on her one, secret journey back, when she discovered Tallys had taken Raisie to some Dentorian city, she breathed a sigh of relief, and the urge began to fade from her. However, by this point she was hardened and cold and proud, and there was no home for her.

Eden's worl changed again when he journal opened, and Tallys and Raisie were writing there. Her urges returned, and she tried as hard as ever to turn Raisie away, tearing into both her and Tallys as often as she could. Noel soon appeared as well, and Eden tried to focus her anger on him, diverting her mind from Raisie. Nevertheless, an unplanned detour to Rhia, where her sisters had ended up, reawakened her compulsion, and she eventually caved, calling Noel to her side as she travelled to Rhia and murdered her sister.

She had hoped Noel would kill her for her crime, but instead, he took her with him and fled the law. The two of them became fugitives, and Eden struggled with suicidal thoughts and eventually rediscovered her worth through Noel after learning that his "cheating" had in fact been wedding planning for the two of them. They married on the run in the city of Taleth.

At the Kilian border, the dream of freedom came to an end. They were intercepted by a mercenary hired by Craig of Rhia and a contingent of soldiers. Noel was killed in the struggle, and Eden had her tongue removed. She is currently en route back to Rhia to her eventual fate.

PERSONALITY

Eden initially comes across as cold, humourless, and prideful. She is condescending in speech, haughty in demeanor, and prideful in presentation. Her initial judgment of anyone is invariably that she's superiour to them in every way, and she acts like it. She demands, never requests, and expects those demands to be met with haste.

She values knowledge more than anything, and has little patience or respect for those who don't put it as their top priority. She holds the uneducated in disdain, especially those who are uneducated due to their own choice rather than a lack of oppurtunity.

Eden also assumes the worst of anyone as a matter of course, judging others by their looks, clothing, speech, and demeanor, and once she has judged you as one thing, it's very difficult to convince her you're something else.

But through all these flaws, Eden is a quiet, reflective woman who has many secret hopes and dreams she keeps secret. She values close personal relationships, and once someone has won their way into her heart, she's surprisingly loving and loyal, when one knows how to read her and see it. The biting comments and constant bemusement she shows to those close to her are more exasperated fondness combined with an inability to express emotion than anything actually critical. She has a surprisingly very sound moral code.

Very few ever see the softer side of Eden, because it's hard to see behind the offputting patronizing arrogance she coats everything with. But it most certainly does exist, as Noel would have confidantly told you.

APPEARANCE

Eden is slim and tall, with long, dark hair she almost always wears in a carefully combed ponytail. She has blue eyes and high, regal features. Her skin is darker than most Kilians, though she still sunburns easily.

She holds herself with all the confidence and regal air of a queen. She prefers wearing blue to match her eyes.
